Audition Request

If you are interested in joining our youth ensemble, then we are interested in you!

Qualifications

Our youth ensembles are staffed by this area’s most gifted musicians – handpicked, based on competitive audition or referral from top private teachers and band directors. Home schoolers are encouraged to audition.

All our kids are All Region Band members for the past several years about a third of them have been All Staters. We are not a substitute for individual study. All our students take private lessons from top teachers.

Because all our horn players are active in their school bands, we do not meet during marching season or UIL contest season. We meet when school is out – Summer, Christmas holidays and Spring Break.

What’s It Cost?

Tuition varies based on the number of meetings per session. Each meeting is about the cost of a 30-minute private lesson. With a grant from the Arts Council Northeast, and special project grants from the Fort Worth Arts Council — as well as sponsorship from the local business community — student costs remain lower than that of most other camps or activities.

The project was started in 2010 for local jazzers who could not afford costly out of town jazz camps, and we seek out business support to help keep those costs low.

With gigs at Six Flags and NRH2O, recording sessions, guest artist visits and master classes with local pros – our youth activities are probably the best value going!
